Muhammad not only physically attacked people who rejected Islam, but he also called down curses upon them. And apparently, his curses resulted in more than just hurt feelings.

Muhammad was born into the Hashim clan of the Quraish (or Quraysh) tribe. When Muhammad attempted to convert the Quraish, at least some of them rejected his message and refused to follow him. This upset Muhammad, who then called down curses upon them. At some point later, all of the who Muhammad had cursed were found dead and decaying in the hot sun.    

“Narrated Abdullah bin Mas’ud, The Prophet faced the Ka’ba and invoked evil on some people of the Quraish, on Shaiba bin Rabi’a, ‘Utba bin Rabi’a, Al-Walid bin ‘Utba and Abu Jahl bin Hisham. I bear witness, by Allah, that I saw them all dead, putrefied by the sun as that day was a very hot day” (Bukhari 3960).
